Northside Child Development Center, one of Hennepin County's "Strong Beginnings" sites, offers supportive services to both children and their families.
An out-of-school time support program offers:
- Collaboration with teachers and family to encourage academic progress
- Job skill and self-esteem development
- Activities, such as community leadership and youth in government, to promote development outside of school
- Supportive environment to help adolescents transition into adulthood
A Children Services Manager offers:
- Individualized developmental assessments
- Resources and referrals for schools, children’s mental health facilities and other community resources
- Monthly progress reports for parents
- Pre-kindergarten screening
A Family Services Manager offers:
- Home visits
- Resources and referrals for basic needs
- Family care plans
- Resume writing assistance and practice job interviews
- Monthly parent workshops/ family nights
A STEEP (Step Toward Enjoyable and Effective Parenting) Family Facilitator offers:
- Home visits
- Transportation for prenatal appointments
- Doula services
- Monthly family nights
- Resources and referrals for basic needs
- Advocacy and other supportive service
