Vehicle Emissions

In an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming and improve air quality, the Clean Cars law was introduced in 2007. The Clean Cars bill was written to adopt California’s more restrictive vehicle emission standards in lieu of the federal EPA standards. While this bill did not ultimately become law, it clearly advanced the discussion on the issue of emission control and cleaner vehicles. The Governor-appointed Minnesota Climate Change Advisory group has recommended that Minnesota adopt California’s Clean Car standards.

Legislative Direction:
  • Adopt Clean Cars legislation that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions
